Good news: You won’t have to spend much time deleting emails from this newsletter!
For now, it’s just going to be links to my work, and there won’t be many, because I’m writing my book for Simon & Schuster about how to feed the world without frying the world. But I did just start writing a monthly column for Canary Media about food and climate change, and at some point I’m going to start emitting more regularly.
Here’s the first column, basically an overview of my main obsession these days. Even if we all stopped using fossil fuels tomorrow, and got rid of all our greenhouse gas emissions except our emissions from the food system, we’d still be screwed. But there are things we can do to get unscrewed!

I hope you’ll enjoy it and share it; until now Canary has been all about energy, so my Eating the Earth column is an experiment for them, and I’d prefer they consider it a successful experiment. And I hope you tell your friends about the newsletter, even though it isn’t really a newsletter yet. There will be Emissions in the future.
One can take some dots – war in Ukraine, famine in East Africa, biofuels – and join them to suit an argument (Canary Media, April 19). But they’re not joined. Would you do an interview or meeting with me, a person who sees things differently?
